But Chicago also has a flavour of its own — blending its different neighbourhoods, people and cultures. The city's chefs have followed suit, mixing together a wide array of cuisines to create some one-of-a kind global fare – so it's time to start expecting the unexpected on the Chicago dining scene – to experience a wide range of locally-sourced ingredients and international flavours.

Eating out is one of the most popular things to do in Chicago, and The Magnificent Mile is the heart of the city's famous culinary scene, featuring award-winning dining at fine-dining restaurants and a lot of chic and cozy venues year round.

Our Team recomands these hotels:

Restaurant Ever Chef Curtis Duffy's 8- to 10-course tasting menu focused on proteins from the land and sea, seasonal vegetables complemented with fruits, grains, seeds and nuts. The menu is seasonal and changes frequently, and typically lasts 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Wine pairings or wine by bottle or glass.

Outstanding Cuisine!

1340 W Fulton St,
The Sepia restaurant Intentionally refine and rustic, but chic setting, custom an old print shop, modern chandeliers, stylish without being sleek, warm and inviting, comfortable yet lively.

Chef Zimmerman creates inventive seasonal American cuisine, rooted in tradition, melding rustic sensibility with contemporary flair, and showcases the best produce of the season. We enjoyed salad of house smoked trout, fennel, apple, dill, pumpernickel as starter followed by grilled filet mignon, maitake mushrooms, bone marrow custard, bordelaise as main. Top cuisine.

Sepia really celebrates American tradition – with an excellent modern twist.

123 North Jefferson Street
NAHA restaurant A nice and warm restaurant, pacific shades of brown, grey and taupe, simply luxury but not pretentious or stuffy.

Chef Carrie Nahabedian takes you on a journey of the vibrant, sun-kissed coastal cuisines of Southern Europe and Northern Africa – a cuisine inspired by the great coasts of the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel and Morocco.

We chose Island Creek Oysters and Burrata from Puglia as starters, Pan Roasted Skate Wing and Ribeye of Beef with Melted Roquefort as mains, all wonderful paired with well-balanced wines.

Excellent Cooking.

521 N Rush Street
GT Fish & Oyster restaurant Located on the 16th floor of Trump Tower Chicago, this rooftop restaurant includes an indoor bar and dining room, as well as expansive outdoor seating.

Terrace 16 offers fresh options for a variety of tastes and preferences. An ever-changing menu features new American flavours, allowing ingredients to speak simply and powerfully for themselves.

Fine dining all punctuated by breathtaking views of one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

401 N. Wabash Avenue
Pinocchio restaurant Piccolo Sogno (“little dream”) is a modern elegant restaurant with bold blue walls, marble bar and terrazzo floors.

Chef Tony Priolo presents a menu of fresh, seasonal rustic Italian Cuisine, fine food prepared by hand, based on special produce such as vegetables from local organic farmers and fish from the Mediterranean, and he offers a wide selection of regional Italian dishes – from homemade pastas and hand-tossed pizzas prepared in the restaurant’s wood-burning oven, and of course homemade gelato and sorbet. Our favorite "paste" are Gnocchi (rosemary and potato dumplings, oven dried tomatoes, braised chicken, leeks, and parmesan), followed with "secondi" Anatra Arrosto (half roasted duck, Tuscan kale, fennel sausage, roasted cauliflower puree) or Coniglio Alla Cacciatore (hunter style braised rabbit, tomatoes, peppers, oli ves, mushrooms, soffrito, soft semolina). This is the true Italian dining experience.

And Ciro Longobardo presents an impressive all-Italian wine list, poured by the glass, carafe and bottle, perfect for sipping on the patio on warm days and breezy nights.
Buon appetito.

No one sings the blues quite like Chicago – here you hear the distinct sounds of electrified, urban blues in the city where it was born.

From legendary concert halls to intimate stages, you’ll always find a show to get excited about. With so many incredible venues, ranging from intimate neighbourhood clubs to historic music halls, Chicago gives you mainstream pop, indie rock, hip hop, punk, blues, or jazz — no matter your musical taste, you’ll find it live in Chicago any night of the week.

Head to the rooftop bar in The Robey hotel to sip piña coladas and take in 180-degree views of the city skyline or try an artisanal drink at the Violet Hour, that started the craft cocktail craze in Chicago, before dancing through the blue Chicago night.

The StarTripper Team has visited these music-clubs, our Chicago Club Guide:

Green Mill Jazz Club The Green Mill is sophisticated informality, a warm glowing atmosphere steeped in the heady sounds of the early ’30s and ’40s. Uniquely comfortable to all audiences from the sequined Saturday night date to the progressively dressed offbeat student, the magic of the Mill is that the audience commingles in its mutual respect for the music.

Today the Green Mill maintains an authenticity of the ‘40s in service, price and music. Jazz is still played as by the legendary figures – all capture the broad spectrum of jazz from its root rhythms in New Orleans to New York avant-garde. Deep smoky jazz sounds fill the club in the early morning hours when soulful musicians continue to express their love of jazz by jamming ’til the early dawn.

If walls could speak, they would tell the real Chicago jazz-history.
